Mr. McIlwain played the role of Spencer Coyle in Britten's Owen Wingrave, presented by the Maryland Opera Studio and the National Orchestral Institute and Festival. Recently debuting at Annapolis Opera as Officer Jones in Nailah Nombeko's Sunder.

As a 2022-23 Tulsa Opera Filstrup Resident Artist he debuted as Haly in Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri. Mr. McIlwain looks forward to his 2024 international tour of FKP Scorpio's production of Verdi's Aida as Amonasro.
